If you’re a gamer, a designer or a movie lover, you’ll need a full-fledged laptop

By admin on December 16, 2009

The resulting picture and experience, however, isn’t seamless. To access this video on the Wii, you have to open the Web browser and go to the address “Playon.tv” in order to find your options. Once there, you can choose a channel (Netflix, YouTube, etc.), go through your list of queued videos, and start playing.

The Butch and Sundance of tech ride again, only this time they’ve come to San Francisco, not Bolivia.Microsoft and Intel came to town to discuss their partnership, which seemed a little weak a few years back, in the development of Windows 7.

Sony(Sony VGP-BPS2A battery) introduced a digital camera and a smartphone, and gave a brief glimpse of an ultrathin laptop, as well as a new look for its global advertising, at IFA Berlin Wednesday.

Samsung has outed a whole host of laptop goodness at IFA today, with the debut of the skinny X-Series range, and some new additions to the N-Series netbook line-up as well. The X-Series is made up of X520, X420 and X120, with 15.6-, 14- and 11.6-inch LED screens respectively.

If you’re a gamer, a designer or a movie lover, you’ll need a full-fledged laptop. Even low-end models like the $550 Gateway MD have large screens and feature fast processors and lots of memory that let you easily run multiple programs or powerful apps like Photoshop. To get fast enough graphics for Blu-ray movies or games, though, your starting price will go up.

Global Solar Energy has endorsed Tekkeon’s myPower ALL line of rechargeable laptop batteries for use with the company’s lightweight solar chargers. With the trend for users to go off-the-grid, the demand is growing for high-capacity batteries that are capable of fully utilizing power generated by solar panels. With its Sunbooster smart 3-pin adapter, Tekkeon has provided easy connection to its myPower ALL batteries for portable solar charges from companies like Global Solar.

The CEO of netbook pioneer Asustek(A42-A6 Battery ) Computer said today that he still sees no clear market for mini-laptops known as smartbooks, the reason the company isn’t moving forward in that product segment.

The company raised hopes it would soon launch an Eee PC smartbook based on chips made by Qualcomm and running Google’s Android mobile operating system when such a device was displayed at the Computex Taipei electronics show in June. But the company quickly put the project on the back burner, refusing to discuss it days later at a press event that featured Asustek’s chairman alongside executives from microprocessor maker Intel and OS giant Microsoft.

Will Smartbook Take the Place of Smart Phone or Impact Notebook

By admin on December 15, 2009

Smartbook

Smartbook has just come out; perhaps people are not familiar with it. But when we mentioned this new product, a similar word “smart phone” may occur to your mind.

According to the free encyclopedia Wikipedia:

“A smartbook is a mobile device that falls between smartphones and netbooks, delivering features typically found in smartphone (always on, all-day battery life, 3G connectivity) in a slightly larger device with a full keyboard..

Smartbooks will tend to be designed to work with online applications. Smartbooks are likely to be sold initially through mobile network operators, like mobile phones are today, along with a wireless data plan.”

Some expert indicated that though this is a fresh new product, consumers probably will not abandon smart phones, but may give up netbook and pointed out that the sales of smartbook will be a hard process.

Most manufactories take smartbook as an alternative of notebook. It is said that the size of smartbook ranges between smart phones and mini-notebooks with an orientation: associate the simplicity and connectivity of smart phone together with the functionality and easy use of notebook.

About the size

Nokia says that consumers prefer the mobile devices with a standard size, and most will regard notebook as their first choice which caters more favor to travelers. In other words, sometimes, a smart phone is enough for consumers to do some simply work, while smartbook is in an awkward situation for its size are not too big or neither too small which means it would be too bigger to put it in your pocket or too simple to carry out a complicated work.

Besides, Nokia points out that smartbook will have more impact on notebook than the smart phones. Moreover, it explained that people are more and more accustomed to carry smart phone, and there are possibility that smartbook will replace notebook.

No matter which one will win the favor of the public, it is the consumer who made the final decision. Is it smartbook, smart phone or notebook? Just guess it, it would be fun.

How To Hook Up Your Computer To Your TV

By admin on December 14, 2009

In this article, we will look at the different ways in which you can hook up your desktop, laptop, or netbook computer to your television and the reasons that you may want to do this.

Most of us have a computer at home.  And, most of us have a television in our living room.  For the majority of us, the television in the living room is much bigger than the monitor that we have for our computers.  Many think this and ask:  “Is it possible to connect my computer to my TV?”

Aside from the sheer size of your television, there are also many other reasons that people may want to connect their computers to their television sets.  For example, now-a-days most people store all of their photos on their PC.  Thus, what do you do if you want to show a room full of people your photos?  For that matter, what do you do if you want to share your vacation videos with all of the people gathered in your living room?

You get the picture?  You have a lot of data in the form of music, movies, photos, and more that would be better viewed on the LCD TV in your living room than your skimpy monitor that is attached to your computer.

So, is it possible to connect your desktop or laptop computer to your new television to accomplish all this?  You bet it is and it is not that difficult.  There are four ways that you can do this.

The first method is the old way and I do not recommend it.  This method involves connecting an S-Video cable from your computer to your television.  Old computers and older televisions often had an S-Video port on them and this was the only way to connect the two.  The visual and audio output on the TV was not optimal.  This inadequate solution now is not available for most people anyway as S-Videos ports are no longer a standard.

The method that will almost certainly work for everyone is a male VGA to VGA connection.  The reason that this will work is that nearly all computers and all LCD TVs have this type of connection.  This is the connection that I currently use and the picture is fantastic.  For audio to come out of your TV or stereo, simply get a stereo mini phone jack to dual RCA jack stereo cable.

Your final two options are even better.  DVI and HDMI.  These are the best digital transfer mechanisms.  Many people, however, have a problem with this because their computer or LCD TV does not have one of the two connections.    Many computers have DVI but not HDMI.  Almost all of the best LCD TVs have HDMI but sometimes not DVI.

Not to worry.  If your computer has DVI but your LCD TV does not, you can buy a DVI to HDMI converter to connect your computer with your TV.  You will still need to run the audio separately as DVI does not carry audio.

Your most optimal connection of all of them is HDMI to HDMI but this is only possible if both your computer and LCD TV have HDMI.  As we discover in the article “What is the Best HDMI cable”, do not be swayed by people trying to sell you an expensive HDMI cable.  They can be had for around $10 so don’t pay more.

In summary, connecting your desktop, laptop, or netbook computer to your LCD TV is pretty awesome because it allows you to view, and listen to, all of your computer media on your big screen or home stereo.  I fully recommend it!

Mini Netbooks: Dell Mini 10v

By admin on December 7, 2009

Dell is among the best brands when it comes to mini netbooks. If you are a buyer of a new netbook, Dell should be among your top considerations. There is a vast selection of mini netbooks today but it really depends what netbook you are buying. One of the best choices is the Dell Mini 10v. This promising netbook can capture the heart of a techie hand that doesn’t want to stop working over the keyboard.

So what are the specs to expect with mini netbooks like Dell Mini 10v? From the outside, the keyboard keys are only 8% smaller than that of a desktop computer keyboard. This does not seem to be uncomfortable as in a matter of five minutes in typing, you may realize that your fingers are cramping and they don’t want to move away anymore. The biggest problem with mini netbooks is the small keyboard that does not allow your hand from getting away from each other because of the small keys, that make it too hard for you to type in. Nonetheless, has solved this probkem with the Dell Mini 10v.

Familiar with the 16:9 aspect ratio. This means that once you watch a DVD on this Dell Mini 10v, you will not see any cropping or black bars on the top or bottom. The battery life on the Mini 10v netbook is a little above average and the processor does not handle much thought it’s quite good with single applications and movies. Dell Mini 10v is definitely among the mini netbooks that are competitively priced and a good buy for average users.

Want to know more about the inside? Here are the rest of the specs:

  • As mentions, the Keyboard is 92% the size of a traditional laptop keyboard.
  • 16:9 aspect ratio.
  • Seamless display surface
  • Advanced wireless options
  • Built-in GPS3.
  • 7 vibrant colors, 200+ artist designs with Design Studio.

The Mini 10v is the cheaper version of the Dell Mini 10 which costs $299. 10v is $50 less than the Mini 10. Mini 10v has a plastic case as opposed to a magnesium alloy one. The edge-to-edge glass screen is not seen anymore, there isn’t a high-definition display option. The keypad is not supported with multi-touch, and it has a VGA port instead of an HDMI one. Inside the mini netbook are the 1GB of RAM, a 120GB 5,400rpm, 1.6GHz Intel Atom 270 processor, Microsoft Windows XP, The storage device that holds your OS, programs, and data. Mini 10v is also powered by 3-cell lithium ion battery. In contrast, the $349 Mini 10 is packed with Intel Atom Z520 processor clocked at 1.33GHz, 1GB of RAM, but has a larger 160GB hard drive.

The plastic bezel is less stylish so you don’t want to take the VGA approach over HDMI if you connect your mini netbook to your LCD TV. The Mini 10 has 1366 x 768 display and this is not featured in the 10v. Nonetheless, the difference of $50 is not a great sacrifice for great features though. The big thing that you may just miss is the high-end LCD. Mini netbooks are cool, make sure that you’ve got the coolest.
